Happy Weekend

This weekend has definitely seemed like an extended one. Wednesday evening Alex and I ventured down to Olympia for some time visiting with family. Seems like it’s been forever since we’ve been down for a visit.

We had a great time!! Although it was a quick visit, we got to see everyone. 🙂 And boy, has everyone been on a shopping extravaganza! I’ll post pictures in another post, but Baby Madeleine has received her first pairs of shoes, lots of outfits, blankets, her first bathrobe and even a hand-made bonnet!  And here I was going shopping regularly because I was worried that we wouldn’t have enough clothes for her. Ha!

All in all, it was a very nice visit and we had a great time! Thanks to Alex’s family for being so welcoming, as always. 😀

In other news, Jo has a recent post on her blog about Bebe au Lait’smost recent coupon code. They’re offering a buy-one-get-one-free opportunity on their Nursing Covers! Just enter “Mystery09” in the coupon code line at checkout and receive a free nursing cover in your package. Pretty awesome! I’ve already headed over and purchased my cover, seeing as how I hadn’t bought one yet. And who can resist a BOGO sale? This is the pattern I chose: nursing cover

Other notable events taking place this weekend included the creation of two completely hand-made pies, by none other than my lovely husband. One was peach and the other was strawberry rhubarb. They were delicious! We were both feeling rather domestic last night, because I was very motivated to make my famous enchiladas which require 3 hours of cooking to create. But they were so worth it!

Today was filled with errand-running and some organization of the house. I will admit it. I have not completely finished unpacking the house after the move. The main issue I’m finding is that I’ve got things that would normally be stored in the office closet, but in this house there is no office closet to store them in. So I’m sort of at a standstill trying to figure out what to do with them.

I had Paul lug a huge box of books upstairs to be put in the closet where we’re storing all the other books until we have a large enough bookcase for them to be out on display. I consolidated the rest of the boxes into one place so that I could put together our new coat rack, which is now filled with coats. This is the one we chose: coat rackThen I put up the shelves for our DVDs and unpacked those. A few pictures are up on the wall now, which is making it feel even more homey in here. Does this mean I’ve officially entered the ‘nesting’ stage? 😀

I’m hoping to make more progress on the house in the coming weeks now that I’m not feeling so sick and tired. Very exciting! I will be so happy when all is organized and put away. Not to mention, Alex will be, too.

Madeleine has been super active the last few days. I don’t know if it’s my increased activity or if she’s just getting too big in there to be able to move without me feeling her as easily.  Alex put his hand on my tummy when he came home from work this morning and felt a huge kick from her. hehe! I kept waking up this morning to lots of kicks from her, so I’m not sure if they were waking me up or if I was just having restless sleep. Either way, it’s fun to feel her moving a ton.

We have our 24 week doctor’s appointment this week, which includes the dreaded Glucose test. Hopefully all goes well with this one so I don’t have to take the 3 hour test. That sounds miserable.

So, there’s my update for the week! We’ve been busy. 🙂

The glucose test isn’t bad at all taste-wise. Just tastes like syrupy hi-c. The less fun part isn’t eating for the few hours beforehand. Glad you took advantage of the BOGO offer! I plan to as well for shower gifts!
