Again, this is from our story time at Redmond’s Public Library.
Reading to your baby for at least 20 minutes for 3 days a week will improve your child’s cognitive abilities in the long run. Of course, when your child is an infant, you can’t get all 20 minutes in at once. Most babies won’t tolerate that. But the 20 minutes doesn’t have to be consecutive. A of couple minutes here, a couple of minutes there. It all adds up. 🙂
The way we handle reading time is that we always read a story before bed, sometimes two. It depends on if the book was long or short and how well she’s handling story time. Then, some days when there is extra time during play time, we will read a story or two. I am confident that we get the 20 minutes 3 times a week.
