Some test results

This evening we got some results back from all of this testing that our little angel has been going through.

In recovery after the bone scan

1) She does indeed have a neuroblastoma. No big shocker there. We will know tomorrow whether the tumor has the genetic marker that makes it the “bad” kind or not.

2) The results of the bone marrow biopsy show that her marrow is completely clean and there is no cancer. YAY!

So tired, but wouldn't sleep after her bone scan, so instead we snuggled.

3) The results of the CT scan show that there is no cancer anywhere else in her abdomen. This kind of cancer likes neuro cells near the spine and kidneys. The abdomen is the most common place to find this kind of cancer, so the fact that it’s not there is fantastic!

4) The results of the bone scan show areas where bone has been broken as well, and her bone scan was clean, except for a spot that correlates with where they took the bone marrow sample. She is pretty sure that spot lit up because they had to damage the bone a little to get in there for the marrow.

Still to test is the MIBG scan, which is like the other scans except it looks at a more microscopic level.

She was so fussy every time I tried to lay her down and the milk didn't seem to be cutting it so she had some food. But boy, eating is hard work, and she tried to fall asleep in her high chair. That is a first!

In other good news, she is off IV fluids again after her scan today and the resident said that the nurse doesn’t have to check her vitals through the night. She has had her steroid for the evening, so we are hoping she will be able to sleep from here (1 am) on through to 7 or 8 am. She did throw up her steroid this last time, but I think that the nurse gave it to her too quickly which made her feel sick. She got it again, more slowly, and it stayed down that time.

Wonderful update! I’m so glad the cancer doesn’t seem to have spread at all. I’m still thinking about you all and praying for you all day long.

I am a good friend of Chuck and Kristine’s and when I heard about Maddy, I instantly have been keeping her in my prayers. I’m so glad to hear about the results. Continual prayers will be coming your way until this precious angel is totally clear. Hang in there! Hugs!!

Poor baby, she looks so tired. Of course chemo isn’t easy on anyone, so she has a really good excuse. I’m glad it hasn’t spread; will be waiting to hear further news.
